Position Opening -- Assistant Dean of the Library, University of Scranton

The University of Scranton is currently accepting applications for Assistant Dean of the Library. This is a full-time, nine month (Aug-Dec; Feb-May) professional position, which is responsible for overseeing Library services for Circulation; Interlibrary Loan; and Media Resources; and supporting Research & Instruction. The Assistant Dean directly supervises the work of 3 paraprofessional staff, works closely with Faculty Librarians, and is a part of the Library administrative planning team.

Regular hours are Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:00pm, and the anticipated start date is August 6th, 2018.

EBSCO Solar Grants Announced - Deadline 4/30/2018

EBSCO Solar is a grant program that funds solar installations at libraries worldwide.  They provide three $100,000 grants to fund library solar projects. 

Applications will be accepted until April 30, 2018, with the winners announced online and at ALA-Annual on June 22nd.

Temple University Libraries seeks candidate for the position of Head Arts, Humanities & Media to lead a subject specialist librarians unit in the exploring, planning, delivering, assessing and continuous refinement of forward-looking services.
 
Successful candidate will:
  • Seek out teaching and research partnerships in support of students and faculty in the arts and humanities in a rapidly evolving university environment.
  • Providesleadership, vision and initiative for embedding unit members in the discipline specific programs of the university.
  • Foster an environment that promotes exploration and implementation of new approaches to reference, research, instruction, and outreach services that support creative practice, scholarly communication, digital scholarship, and working with data that is unique to the arts and humanities.
  • Guides development of unit members by identifying priorities in light of evolving information technologies, professional practice, library-wide strategic initiatives and University academic programs. Monitors, supervises, and evaluates unit members.
  • Coordinates with Collections Unit Leader to ensure development of collections in the arts and humanities.
  • Contributes to the formulation of Libraries-wide policies and procedures and to the definition of goals and priorities.
