Deans & Directors Luncheon

PALCI Deans & Directors Luncheon, September 19, 2019

PALCI Libraries Leading for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

PALCI Deans & Directors are invited to join us for our annual PALCI Board-hosted Deans & Directors Luncheon, with special thanks to our host, Scott Muir at Rowan University.

Featured Speaker: Monika Williams Shealey

The Deans & Directors Luncheon is available at no cost and is open to all PALCI Deans & Directors, or your organization's PALCI Voting Representative. If you are a Dean, Director or Voting Representative and are not able to attend, we encourage you to designate another appropriate staff member from your library to attend in your place. This event is an in-person presentation, workshop, and networking meeting. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer live-streaming or remote participation at this time. If anything changes in this regard, we'll notify you immediately.

This year's Luncheon is focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion issues within libraries, with special guest speaker Monika Williams Shealey. Dr. Williams Shealey will provide insight and personal perspective on these issues, and encourage discussion among PALCI Member Libraries. The theme is especially timely, as the PALCI Board recently established a PALCI Professional Code of Conduct Task Force, which is in the process of developing our first PALCI Professional Code of Conduct, designed to address issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion in our consortium.

Monika Williams Shealey is Senior Vice President of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Rowan University. Shealey, who joined Rowan as dean of the College of Education in 2013,  oversees a division that brings together departments and programs to develop initiatives designed to address issues of access, equity and inclusion across all of the University’s campuses. Shealey earned her Ph.D. in education, with a specialization in exceptional student education, from the University of Central Florida. She also holds degrees from the University of Miami and the University of South Florida. Read More about our featured speaker, Monika Williams Shealey, here>>
